Standard and personalized Professional Fire Fighter license plates may be issued for passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles, motorcycles and trailers for a fee of $60.00* plus a Prison Industry fee of 50 cents per plate. Personalized Professional Fire Fighter license plates may be issued for a fee of $95.00* plus a Prison Industry fee of 50 cents per plate. The fee to duplicate a currently registered personalized plate that is not a Professional Fire Fighter license plate in the Professional Fire Fighter license plate style is $95.00* plus a Prison Industry fee of 50 cents per plate. The renewal fee for a Standard Professional Fire Fighter license plate is $30.00. The renewal fee for a Personalized Professional Fire Fighter license plate is $50.00.
*$25 of the original fee and $20 of the renewal fee are to support the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada Benevolent Association.
Fees are in addition to all other registration fees and governmental services taxes.
Requirements: This application must be accompanied by proof of identity of the applicant and proof of current employment as a Fire Fighter or their status as a retired Professional Fire Fighter with 10 years service within the State of Nevada. Acceptable documentation is an ID card issued by the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada, an ID card issued by the Nevada Fire Chiefs Association or a letter certifying the applicant’s current or former employment as a professional full-time salaried fire fighter. This letter must be from the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada or the Nevada Fire Chiefs Association or the chief officer of a Federal or State agency, the duties of which involve the prevention and suppression of fires, including, without limitation, the Bureau of Land Management and the Division of Forestry of the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
Your personalized license plates will be mailed to the current address of record maintained by the Department. If you ordered your personalized license plates by mail, your license plate will be forwarded to the DMV location specified on the application. If your vehicle is currently registered, you have the option of maintaining your current vehicle registration expiration date, or renewing for a full 12- month period. Credit for the unused portion of your current registration will be applied to your renewal. You must surrender the current plates to the Department in order to transfer this credit. In applicable counties, if the previous evidence of compliance of emissions standards was obtained more than 90 days ago, the vehicle must be re-inspected prior to registration. Nevada evidence of insurance must be presented when you visit the DMV.
